Sheila:

I purchased your Happy Hysterectomy e-book back in August. I had my hysterectomy on Sept. 5th 2007. I had severe endometriosis, an ovarian cyst and fibroid tumors. I was in a lot of pain and was alway exhausted and miserable. Your book helped me to prepare and what to expect afterwards. It was a great help. I am a 31 years old. I am a wife and mother of 1 beautiful 7 year old daughter. My husband and I had wanted 1 more child and tried. We were unsuccessful. Because of the cyst and the severe endo I am unable to conceive. Because of wanting another child, the decision to have the hysterectomy was the hardest one I have ever had to make. It was the best choice for me. Since the surgery I feel wonderful. All that pain is gone! I am still recovering, my doctor wants me to take it easy for the full 6 weeks. No driving, stress, lifing, housework. Doing nothing is driving me crazy, but I am enjoying all the rest and relaxation. My husband, family and friends have all been wonderful to me. They are helping me with the housework and to take care of my daughter. I don't know what I would have done without them. Also I don't know what I would have done without your book. I would have been a mad woman, rushing around at the last minute trying to get everything done and arranged.

Thank you

Thank you so much- thank God you were there, literally, in book form. I was told I needed a hyster.
Hi Angela,

Thanks for your question.

If you're looking for medical info, my eBook would not be a good choice. Instead, my focus is on lots of practical things to do, so that you can prepare well and recover well. (All based on my own research and experience, plus that of many readers of earlier editions, who've shared their stories.)

Although I had a total hyst, which involves the longest recovery time, women who've had "simpler" hysts (partial, LAVH, and now Da Vinci) have also found it helpful.

Cheers,
Sheila

You're most welcome, Karen. And what great news that you're doing so well! Thanks for letting us all know your experiences with Da Vinci. I am quite jealous. ;-)

The system is very expensive, so it will be a while before it is widely available, but this is definitely a postive trend.

Cheers,

It was a week yesterday since my Da vinci surgery. I'm not saying that 7 days is the magic number, but WOW - I feel great! Amazingly so. I highly reoommend this procedure - just make sure your surgeon is trained :).

BTW Sheila, thanks for the link to Recovery!!

I had my robotic hysterectomy 1 week ago and would highly recommend it to anyone. I was out of the hospital the next morning. I would compare my recovery to the lap appy I had a year ago. I feel great!!!

Hi PJ,

Many thanks for your comments! (When I started this blog, it didn't occur to me that my ebook readers would post online, so it's a real thrill to hear from you this way.)

On the Recovery website, they do have articles about both weight loss and Multiple Sclerosis. Here's the main MS link: http://www.remarkable-recovery.com/article/00199.php

I recommend you show the link to your primary care physician and ask her/him if it's safe for you.

All the best on the 23rd and beyond....

THANK YOU for this book! At first I thought, "sheesh - $28 bucks for a downloadable book???" but just commented to my daughter that it's worth FOUR TIMES that amount!!! I believe it is invaluable to anyone anticipating a hysterectomy! Mine is scheduled May 23 and I'm getting a twitch (LOL) with worry about weight gain! UGH!!!! Will this "recover" help with that?? I also have Multiple Sclerosis so am NOT to take anything that increases the immune system.............. pls help. Thanks!!

I had a DaVinci hysterectomy on April 5 (5 weeks ago). I felt so good, I went back to work after three weeks. I would recommend it to anyone who has this offered to them by their doctor.
